Trim systems: what should you get?
Choosing the right trim system isn't about buying the most advanced model—it's about choosing the one that best matches your riding style.
Every Pitch Components trim is built around the same engineering philosophy, but each series is designed with a different purpose in mind. Some riders value confidence and stability. Others want immediate response and aggressive power delivery. Some want complete control over every aspect of their setup.
This guide explains the differences between the Freeride, Freestyle and Ultra Series, and when each one makes the most sense.
Freeride Series
The Freeride Series is designed for riders who prioritise confidence, predictability and smooth handling.
Its straight (0°) propulsion delivers power directly behind the ski, creating a stable and neutral riding characteristic that feels planted in the water. Rather than encouraging aggressive manoeuvres, the Freeride allows the rider to stay in complete control, making it ideal for carving, wave riding and larger flowing manoeuvres where consistency is more important than maximum responsiveness.
Unlike the Freestyle and Ultra Series, the Freeride intentionally does not use a Flow Guard. This allows the trim system to retain a smoother, more forgiving feel that suits varied riding conditions and longer riding sessions.
If you want a ski that simply follows your input without constantly demanding your attention, the Freeride is the natural choice.

Freestyle Series
The Freestyle Series is designed specifically for technical freestyle riding.
Compared to the Freeride, it delivers a much more direct and responsive feeling. Steering inputs are transferred more immediately, the ski reacts faster, and rider input is converted into movement with very little delay.
A major contributor to this feeling is the integrated Flow Guard, which helps manage water flow around the nozzle during trimming and steering. The result is quicker response, improved efficiency and a noticeably more connected ride.
The Freestyle Series is available in two propulsion configurations:
Zero (0°) provides a neutral and predictable platform that excels at technical riding, linked manoeuvres and precise control.
Five (5°) redirects propulsion slightly upwards to help the ski naturally engage its flip angle, making backflips feel easier to initiate while producing a more aggressive riding characteristic.
For most freestyle riders, the Freestyle Series offers the ideal balance between performance, consistency and ease of use.

Ultra Series
The Ultra Series is built for riders who want complete control over their setup.
While it shares the same overall riding philosophy as the Freestyle Series, the Ultra is engineered to push performance even further through increased efficiency, reduced friction and complete adjustability.
Its modular construction allows the rider to tune nozzle sizes, propulsion characteristics and—depending on the model—both the reduction and steering nozzles to suit individual engines, hulls and riding conditions.
The result is a trim system that doesn't simply deliver outstanding performance out of the box—it can be optimised to extract the maximum performance from a specific ski.
The Ultra also features the Ultra Fitted Flow Guard, producing an even more immediate steering response and making the ski exceptionally sensitive to rider input. Every movement feels sharper, faster and more direct than the Freestyle Series.
For experienced riders, this level of responsiveness creates a remarkably connected riding experience. For less experienced riders, however, it can feel unnecessarily demanding.

Which One Is Right for You?
Choose the Freeride if you value stability, confidence and predictable handling across a wide range of riding conditions.
Choose the Freestyle if your focus is freestyle riding and you want a responsive, efficient trim system that performs exceptionally well straight out of the box.
Choose the Ultra if you're already operating at a high level and want the ability to fine-tune every aspect of your trim system for your engine, hull and riding style.
